Evolution Mk 249c Driver Mac Os X

Evolution Mk 249c Driver Mac Os X 3,2/5 3548 votes

This might be a beginners question. I have an Evolution (later taken over by M-audio) master USB keyboard (MK-249) connected via USB to my Mac. The device is correct detected by the system. Also fine: Logic Pro tracks the controllers (pitchbend, program change, channel select, etc.) of the keyboard when turned or pushed. However, keystrokes / notes do not record or appear at all. I want to use this keyboard to play and record software instruments / soundbanks from Logic. But am stuck for days trying to figure this out.

  1. I got a Evolution (m-audio) MK-249C which is found from my System (Apple Profiler in OsX 10.4.6) with full name as usuall. But although the m-audio guys say online that I don't need no driver and I can 'plug 'n play'. Logic does not respond to it anyhow. Am I wrong in some way - what can I do or try.

I have the exact same issue. I have an Evolution MK-249C & 2 x MACs: i have connected the MK-249 to both using USB. 1 x connection to my old power mac running OS9 - the MK-249 is recognised in midi setup 1 x connection to new Mac Mini OS X 10.10.4 - midi setup does not recognise the MK-249 at all. Tried the above suggestions & no luck.

I just bought iLife and a used Evolution MK-249c USB keyboard. I came home all excited to play with it - but no joy. Basically, Apple's Audio Midi Setup cannot see the MK-249c no matter what I do.

I've tried my G4 powerbook and my wife's G4 iBook. I've tried 2 different USB cables, every USB port. I've tried rebooting, fixed disk permissions and rebooted again. I followed M-audio's troubleshooting guide which said to create a new 'profile' in Audio Midi Setup, then rescan midi ports. According to M-audio's site, I don't need any drivers because its built-in to OS X. So what's the secret to making the bloody thing work?!

I don't have any experience with MIDI keyboards but you might want to make sure that your machines can see the unit at all. Troubleshooting it from the lower layers on up, your machines should at least recognize the unit as some sort of USB device. Assuming you haven't done so already, click on the blue Apple, then on 'About This Mac', then on 'More Info'.

Under the heading for hardware, click on USB. In the panes on the right you should see every device, by port, that your machine recognizes as being attached to it.

This might include your mouse, your QWERTY keyboard and this MIDI keyboard. If you plug/unplug the device while you have this window open you may have to go to View-Refresh in order to update the list. If it doesn't show up in this list then the USB port on the device is probably toast. Beyond that you'll have to rely on some other folks at this site that might provide further assistance. Thank you guys for the tips. Well, the Apple system profile has no trouble finding it at all on the USB bus.

There it is clear as day: 'MK-249C USB MIDI Keyboard'. Also, I forgot to mention that the keyboard is being powered from the USB bus, so that end of things seems to be working. It's just the OS X.MIDI. recognition part that seems utterly hopeless. System specs: Powerbook G4 550MHz / 768MB RAM OS X 10.3.8 iBook G4 933MHz / 640MB RAM OS X 10.3.8 So the USB connection is recognized, but I'll be damned if I can get OS X to see it as a MIDI device!
