My first post here, so please forgive me if I'm being stupid Running Frodo on an Ubuntu Linux box. No problems until now - I think it may have something to do with the length of the folder/file name, but I really don't know. I have been busy loading in my DVD's, and for the last 2 nights I've been working away at my Harry Potter DVD's. Everything has gone fine until I got to 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1'. As with my other movies, I created a folder named 'Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1(2010)'. Within that folder are 2 files: - 'Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1.m4v' - 'Harry.Potter.and.the.Deathly.Hallows.Part.1(2010).nfo' which contains the address to the imdb entry for the movie This has worked for all other movies.

This one just shows the folder title instead of the movie name (on ones that work the name doesn't have the (date) information showing on the menu). No information is available - it's says no movie found in path. If you click the menu entry it just shows an empty folder structure - no movie file. I thought this had to be a typo, so I even copied/pasted the name for the folder name, the.nfo file name and the movie name (removed the (2010) from the movie name as with all the others). The only difference I see is that this folder/file name is longer than all the rest I have done so far and that work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hello, I'm a new user of XBMC and am loving it so far.

Still working out a few kinks though. Currently, I have a lot of my multimedia on a set of networked drives, but have been unable to get XBMC to connect to them.

I operate on OS X and my drives are attached to the network using a Ciragolink NUS1000. I have no trouble connecting to my drives using Finder by selecting Go Connect To Server. In the menu bar, then entering the server's URL and my username/password. The URL is and is accessed using WebDAV. However, I can't get XBMC to connect to the drives. I've tried using File Manager to add a source by selecting Add Source Browse Add Network Location.

It can run Kodi (which is XBMC-based open source home theater software, similar to Plex Home Theater. Is it compatible with Plex Server? Could I install a Plex Home Theater version and have DTS-HD-MA and TRUEHD passthrough? It sounds very interesting and future proof! Thank you very much for the.

And entering the information in a handful of different ways. It appears that even though you're asked for five fields of info-server address, port, username, password, remote path-you can enter them on one line, or two, or all five, or three.

You just have to put it all in the right order. I've also tried using different protocols such as WebDAV, Web server directory (HTTP), and SMB. Some are more successful than others (failure is directory can't be created vs. Could not connect).

Normally, I use one of these paths to connect: or the IP for the storage link is 192.168.1.32, which can also be used to access it. What might I be doing wrong and how can I fix it? Hey all, i'm just putting together my first htpc.

I love xbmc but the picture quality has been poor for me (dull/grey, NOT choppy/glitchy). When playing the exact same file (720p bluray rip) in vlc, the picture has much deeper blacks and more vivid color. I've made all the adjustments on my TV already. Why would the picture be so different from one player to another? I'd post the screenshots but it would take me forever to figure out how.

Here's my setup: 50' panasonic HDTV (TC-P50UT50) Dell optiplex 755, E8500 cpu, 4G RAM ATI RADEON HD 2400 PRO with DVI to HDMI cable to TV Windows 7 SP!, XBMC 12.2 - Aeon Nox let me know of any specs i left out (probably something obvious) any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I own a Minix X5 (rk3066) and installed the latest firmware (based on android 4.2.2 (including stagefright and FFMPEG drivers).

I also installed the DTS patch made by Stafstrom ( When watching movies with MX Player (using the HW setting) it uses the machines own FFMPEG drivers. This allows DTS and DD5.1 passthrough to my receiver (using optical out). When playing a movie in XBMC (using the latest nightlies) the video plays just fine, BUT DTS and/or DD5.1 doesn't work. (also when changing the sound settings to digital/hdmi with and without support of a DTS /DD5.1 receiver.

Xbmc

When changing it to digital I get a hissing sound. Maybe this is caused by the internal compiled FFMPEG? Therefore I want to know if and how it would be possible to use the Minix X5 own FFMPEG drivers in XBMC? Or if it's possible to fix XBMC internal FFMPEG drivers?

Dear All, We are trying to get passthrough audio on the Minix X5 device. Since a smart guy did some backward coding he found out how to enable this.

Unfortunately it works with BS Player, RK Player and MX player but not with xbmc. Well I thought no man overboard since we have these options'; com.mxtech.videoplayer.pro true 120 I thought to be clever and put video on false (let it handle by xbmc's DVDPLayer) but put Audio on True so its handled by MX Player.

Unforetunately in practice this means one will effectively use another player for video (defaut) and MX for music. Could this be implemented so, that we divert the audio to MX Player? This would make the minix the first android box with passthrough on an optical Toslink!

I've been having issues with XBMC hanging while shutting down for a long time now. The only way to kill xbmc.bin is with a kill -9 command.

I'm running a recent built from source version of XBMC on an old version of Mythbuntu. I'm looking for suggestions for what to try to diagnose further. I've just got a plasma TV and had an image retention problem recently when XBMC tried to shutdown, hung and then stayed on screen for an hour or so while I was out. A snapshot of the tail end of the log when shutting down can be found at: I've looked at a few logs and they all appear to stop at the same point. 22:42:54 T:23904 NOTICE: stop player 22:42:54 T:23904 NOTICE: stop sap announcement listener 22:42:54 T:23904 NOTICE: clean cached files! 22:42:54 T:23904 NOTICE: unload skin 22:42:54 T:23904 INFO: Unloading old skin.

Anyone recommend a decent 2.5' hard drive for a NAS? Just bought an ICY dock unit for my HP ProLiant N54L so I can expand but unsure what drives are the best. 3.5' I've got WD red but can't see any equivlant for 2.5'. The NAS is an always on - couchpotato, sickbeard, DSAudio and XBMC MYSQL DB - beast so something reliant is essential.

They don't have to be 7200rpm as they'll be in RAID 5 config. 2TB is more than sufficient but if anyones had any luck with 3TB I could be pursuaded to give them a try. Thank you please. Hi Guys Please assist to a rookie.

I’ve purchased Xtreamer Ultra2 DELUXE to replace my old WDTV live. I'm new at XBMC and I'm looking for a software that I can browse the media files in my network and see them in my TV. The thing is. I have two PC at the second floor with Windows 7 that store some music, video and photos and a TV SAMSUNG UN40EH5300GXZD at the first floor all conected by my home network. I'd like to see these media files on this TV while I'm near the TV (first floor). It would be perfect if I can control what to play on TV with my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus) but if not possible I have a notebook with Windows XP and Ubuntu.

Can the XBMC do this for me? DISCLAIMER: This is a pre-alpha release with several sections incomplete. Though this skin is my daily driver, I appreciate it might not yet be complete enough to be yours! Maximinimalism is a skin for XBMC that focuses on three things: simplicity, clarity and speed. Design philosophy. Elegance over flashiness. Must be legible and usable day and night on a 24” screen from 6 feet.

Plasma-friendly high contrast dark theme. Usable with a five button remote (play / pause, back, info, context menu, select). Less is more. Sweat the small stuff. Prominent use of fanart. Separate user-defined fanart sources can be set from the skin settings (you might want to use the to help this). Features Maximinimalism does a few things a little differently from other skins, but if i've achieved anything it should be fairly self-explanatory.

A few things to look out for:. No user-selected view options.

The skin accommodates different media types for you, so if you love coverflow / poster views etc, this probably isn’t the skin for you. 5 user-selectable custom addons can be chosen for the music / video sections, giving you immediate access to the sources you use every day. PVR support. It’s fairly rudimentary right now, but more is coming. For users of TVCatchup, a simple now / next layout is included. A tweaked version of the TVC addon is needed for this to work - I've included a zip in the /resources directory.

support for the music visualization built in (you’ll need the addon of course – I recommend it). For Skinners Hand coded from the ground up (though Hitcher’s is its base) Maximinimalism is built for modding and rapid prototyping. For graphic designers, underpinning maximinimalism is a rudimentary 24-column grid system and baseline (with precalculated absolute / relative values for columns and rows included as a set of constants - see includesgrid.xml). It’s not perfect, but it works for me at least!. Similar to Foundation, a debug grid is supplied to support this system (same keymap mod required – see ). The screen-optimised open source font ‘Adobe Source Sans Pro’ is used throughout the skin. It’s the best in its class IMHO.

The excellent open source icon font WHGlyphs is also included , making the inclusion of consistent, well considered iconography easy. Download. GIT Repo:. Zip: Immediate Future Plans. Expand and complete PVR section.

CD and DVD handling. Photo library. User profiles. ‘Play’ section As I said, this is my daily driver, so it will continue to be developed. Comments and suggestions welcomed. Cheers, theDeadman.
