I bought this laptop off eBay a couple of years ago, and I can't recall which version of Windows it came with. I did install Windows 7 Ultimate cleanly onto it. Some games are fine with a smooth framerate, such as Quake 3. But I tried a game using the Quake 3 engine the other day, and it ran like a dog. I thought that was strange because it's the same engine; so I started thinking maybe the video drivers are outdated.
But if it's going to be too slow anyway (asFlavallee implies) then I'll skip the plan and keep using it for work and coding only, especially seeing as there's no real official Dell video drivers for it. Thanks for the advice.
