Like most secret cults, confraternities and similar groups, members of NBM aka Black Axe cult ( for a general introduction see ) use special items and expressions to describe themselves and others, the structures within the group and so on. Some of the following terms are part of the “coded” language used within NBM for secrecy purposes, among other reasons. Outsiders (“jus”) are not supposed to understand what they are talking about. Axe: The axe is the symbol of NBM.

Because of its shape it is also referred to as “7”. The often used code “147” means “one for seven” = one for (Black) Axe/NBM. Axes are also part of the regalia worn by members. Black Axe: This is a metamorphosis of the first name of the movement “Black Barracards”. The name was changed to “Black Axe” then finally Neo Black Movement, even though it remains the inofficial name. “Black Axe” also became the name of the magazine published by the movement. This again was changed to “Uhuru Magazine” later.

Axeman: Members of NBM refer to each other as axemen (or alternatively lord, bam, amigos, wise/strong men). Lord: a graduate member. Aye: a campus member, also known as “Temple Aye”. Those are known for gang wars, cult killings and rape at Nigerian universities. The term “aye” is also used as a greeting among members.

Aye is an abbreviation of “African Youth Empowerment”. Blending/Bamming: initiation into the cult. Bam is also used as an expression of approval (“you bam”). Jollification/Jolly: gathering of members (also for initiation), parties. There is talk about jus and virgins having been sacrificed at jollies.

LP (“Elpee”): Jolly song. Ju/jew (name): someone who has not been initiated / real name. Injew: member of a different cult group. Tingo/Bird: member of the Eiye confraternity (Airlords), the rival cult hated most by NBM. Baggers: member of the Buccaneers confraternity (Sealords), another rival cult of NBM.

Strong name (SN): name given at initiation, “Aye/Lord” plus usually the name of an African freedom fighter, dictator or terrorist, for example “Lord Muammar Gadhaffi”. In all communications among members the strong name is used. See. Clothing: Members of the confraternity have a uniform of sorts that consists of black, white and yellow clothing (black trousers, white shirt, yellow tie, yellow ribbon on cap) which symbolizes the following: Black signifies identification with the black race and the dignity thereof, white signifies peace and purity of mind and body, yellow signifies intellect. The color of the regalia depends on the rank of a member.

See. Uhuru: alleged goal of NBM, meaning “freedom” in Swahili.

Egede: Originally used for the greeting with the clash of forearms, more recently also used for drums. Dodorima: Dodorima in Igbo language refers to honesty, straightforwardness, intelligence, hard working, etc. It has become the culture of NBM members to say, “Dodorima/Dodos to you”. This entails praises and adoration given to a particular person based on something he did. Orientation (OT): Knowledge about the “movement” or acquiring such knowledge.

See. FM/Football Match: Refers to a punishment administered to members.

It consists of an endurance test/pysical exercise. Janet: Term used for punishment, especially beating with a cane or whip.

According to NBM legend Janet was a girlfriend of one of the founders. She is said to have betrayed the “movement” and to have been beheaded for that reason like Charles Kokoma (see below). Also see “Disciplinary Standards ). Kokoma: drink containing various ingredients and drugs such as weed, kola nut, zobo leaf, alligator pepper, tomtom, panadol.

It is prepared by the Chief Priest and used at initiation of new members. An oath is sworn with Kokoma: should the initiated member ever betray NBM, Kokoma is thought to squeeze life out of him.

NBM legend also has it that a certain Charles Kokoma was one of the founders of NBM but betrayed the “movement” and was then beheaded by the others (even though this name does not appear on the official list of founders). Therefore beheading is today seen as the appropriate punishment for one who betrays the “movement” and leaks its secrets. Korofo (Krf): “the cult of the underground” (Yoruba religion). Korofo is often referred to in NBM and appears to be seen as a God of sorts (“may Korofo squeeze the life out of them” / “Korofo on guard”). H.I.T.

/play hit: Killing someone, mostly members of other confraternities. Perfect Circle: Part of NBM ceremonies. The following terms refer to offices and structures in NBM:.

Zone: a local group of NBM. There are zones in Nigerian states and in many countries worldwide, often with subdivisions (see list below). Temple (T): Nigerian university where new cult members are recruited (see list below). Murder Temple: often falsely called Mother Temple. It means the Futa Jallon Temple, aka University of Benin. The term refers to the crisis that occurred at the birth on NBM at the said university, the murder of one of the founders who turned out to be a traitor (see below).

National Head (NH), Chief Priest (CP), Chairman, Chief Butcher, Ihaza, Eye, Crier are offices in NBM. See below for a description of their functions. (National) Executive Council (NEXCO – includes the offices above) and (National) Council of Elders (NCOE – includes the COE chairman and seven or more “elders”, including the present head). The same hierarchical structure exists on zonal and temple level. Temples of NBM (approved list February 2013) The internal Temple name comes first, followed by the official name of the institution. Futa Jallon University of Benin, Benin city.

Adamawa Institute of Management Technology, Enugu. Agemo Tai Solarin Univ. Your sentiments against NBM has made you blind and irrational. If you truly think all NBM members are as you paint them to be then you are just being foolish. But it is actually disappointing that someone as supposedly educated as you can judge a whole organization because of the acts of some bad eggs.

It is a known fact that in most gatherings, there is a Judas; though in the case of NBM we have more than one but that doesn’t give anyone the right to judge the entire organization wrongly. Even your comment above is filled with hate. Just because Alongside Freeman spelled “blackma” instead of blackman, you still put the word in inverted commas to stress the mistake. Is it not obvious it is a typographical error? If he had written the word twice, it would be safe to assume it was deliberate. Your hate has made you so blind that you can’t see the sense in his post. Truly you are worse than those you slay.

I am a member of the Neo Black Movement of Africa and I stand against Inequality, Injustice and Discrimination. You are wrong in many points, African.

This is not about hate. It’s about the TRUTH. And I can tell you I am truly fed up with the “bad eggs” nonsense. Read my comment properly, and also read the other posts in this blog to understand why I say what I say. NBM as an organisation CLAIMS to stand for something good, but it doesn’t DO anything good but instead loads of bad. While it’s certainly true that a few members may actually believe in the noble talk about freedom and justice, it still doesn’t change the facts. Repeating the same hollow phrases over and over again seems to make most axemen blind to the facts. The facts are that NBM represents and practices everything it claims to fight against.

90% are scammers, many others killers, rapists, etc. Not to mention the political aspects. If you truly have a desire to stand against inequality, injustice and discrimination I suggest you join a real movement. NBM certainly is NOT a movement. It just claims to be one.

Real movements actually DO what they claim to be about, and all activities are centered upon those goals. Which real movement for a good cause operates in secret and commits uncounted crimes, futhermore doesn’t even have a website that would provide proof of activities aimed at achieving good goals? And what real movement spends all its time obsessing about money matters and the like, even though none of it actually goes into the cause it claims to have. The truth is that NBM never was a movement and never will be. It was created to fight the Pyrates, and the ideological blabla was added for the good looks of it. There never was a genuine positive goal and there certainly isn’t now. To some extent what u are saying is right, but d entire group can’ be bad.

What I do feel is dat d ideology is good but a great number of their members are very violent. The fact dat a lot of terrorists are Muslims doesn’t mean Islam promotes terror. U say a lot of dem are into cyber crimes, political thuggery, etc but d truth is; people from all spheres of life, religion, tribe, fraternities, do these stuffs and not just members of NBM only.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not endorsin any form of crime, but only driving a point. Even in churches, there are thieves and all sort. Also note that members of NBM are just humans and at such they tends to err. Like u can see in a lot of their posts where they resort to threats. However, to all members of NBM, in all do let it be within the confinement of d law.

@ brave Bros, thank you for your comment. Of course not EVERY individual member of NBM is a criminal. But their proportion is much, much higher than in the rest of the population (Just because others commit the same crimes doesn’t make it more acceptable, does it??). I would estimate that about 80-90% of them are involved in some sort of crime. And that should make us think about the reasons.

Here is my opinion: 1) Judge them by what they ARE, not by what they CLAIM to be. NBM claims to have a good ideology and to be a movement. Both is untrue. NBM never was and never will be a movement. It was created with the main purpose of fighting the Pyrates, and the “ideology” was only added for the good looks of it.

Free

While the ideology as such may be good (albeit somewhat outdated), it actually has nothing to do with NBM. 2) Members of NBM are humans, yes, and they do err. It’s just that they apparently don’t care when they err in the name of NBM, and they don’t correct their mistakes. NBM as a group is mainly about money and power, and most crimes are probably just a side effect of that. Nothing is really done against the crimes either.

That’s probably because stopping the crime and kicking out criminal members (well only about 10% would be left after that) would interfere with achieving their selfish goals. After all, each member pays to be a member.

And who would kick them out anyway when most of the leadership consists of criminals too? 3) NBM as a group, including the leadership, still promote the bizarre idea of supremacy which is a main reason for the cult clashes. For these reasons I think it is more than justified to say that NBM AS A GROUP is bad. The group is based on a bunch of lies and promotes crime by the way it is and by the way it operates. It’s the exact opposite of the example you gave above about Islam and terrorism – NBM as a group DOES promote, facilitate and encourage crime.

You’re jobless @najuju or maybe someone is paying you little coins to write all dis assuming you are working and have a family to feed you won’t be this bored posting shits about ppl dat don’t even give a fuck about wat u think. I have one question for you. The fact that a lot of Muslims are terrorists does that mean Islam promotes terrorism?? Dis ppl kill in the name of GOD what do u have to say about that?? Jst becos 80% of dem r extremist does dat means all muslims r terrorist. “If you expect the world to be fair with you because you’re fair to them, its like asking a lion not to eat you because you don’t eat lions.”.thank you very much for all this and let me quickly add something to this.As many people dont know yet, brainwash is one of the greatest tool of human destruction. Boko Haram foot soldiers and suicide bombers having been brainwashed believed they are doing the right thing by bombing people and killing themselves in the process whereas people that administered such brainwash techniques never goes for such missions. That is just how powerful it is!!

It is always very difficult to reverse a brainwash and delusion effects on people. Cultism in Nigeria is not any different.Cultism in Nigerian schools is mostly youthful exuberance. Most of the very young people that joined “confra’ lacks self validity and are seeking validation and seeking to establish “I am the man’ over little inconsequential things.EXUBERANCE!!

Where I really have problem with these guys is that many of them even after graduation and after growing into real adults are still living on that brainwash and delusions and are still active in such group. This is to say that they ve been trapped in that particular life stage and were not able to grow and think critically.Cultism doesn’t guarantee you getting a job after graduation or living better than the “jews” In fact the reverse is always the case.I know many of my friends who are very bright in our secondary school days and are destined for greatness only to be destroyed by cultism. I can go on and on but let me round up by saying this.Anybody that had left school and is still living on cultism brainwash and delusions will remain a fool forever.Cultism can never get you into the Govt. You can only be used by the smart ones who have outgrown that life stage, those ones that are looking for people to use all in the name of “my man/lordes” to achieve their individual goals. CULT MEMBERS ARE NOT ANY DIFFERENT FROM BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS WHO HAVE BEEN BRAINWASHED TO GO AND DIE COS YOU ARE LIVING ON DELUSION. Anybody that joined cultism in school and still living on it after graduation,I know am ahead of him/them cos they lack the ability of deep thinking.I consider them childish and stupid. Thank you for your input, Frank Eze. I do agree with you very much in most points. There is something I have to add here though.

Unfortunately being a cultist definitely CAN get you into the government, particularly in Edo state where it’s an epidemic. Let me refer you here: There is proof that NBM got numerous slots for government employment in exchange for their help in rigging various elections. The “adults” in the cult are not only big at preaching their delusions, but also benefitting from being cultists in various ways – for example by being promoted into government jobs by election rigging politicians (who are mostly cultists too) or by forming crime cells all over the world. If there was no profit included they would probably be less stubborn about it since their “teachings” objectively make no sense at all. It’s just as you said, it appears to be very difficult to reverse a brainwash and delusion effects.

Shockingly this is also the case in otherwise intelligent and educated people. Whatever the owner of this blog is trying to achieve, i do not know. But from what i see here you think you have done your research well enough to claim to speak ‘the truth’.

Well you just lied again. Your obsession on NBM has brought out so much hate in you. In your opinion it is not a movement and it was created to fight the pyrates.

Are they fighting pryates now? Whose agenda are you pursuing?

I would have so gladly joined issues with you on several fronts but come to think of it, it is not worth it and you are really not worth it. You got the organisational structure right and the names of the temples as wellso what? You claim 80%-90% of the members are criminals, let posterity be the judge. Incase you don’t know NBM has had its fair share of challenges and problems; societal, economical, intellectual, infrastructural, etc yet they have always pull through the hurdles. NBM still remains one of the people friendly organisation with more non members associating with member, while it true that there is still so much violence among the younger generation. Has it been ever stated anywhere that the leadership of NBM has approved killing or violence of any kind?

You hide behind a cyber wall to castigate an organisation you really have no business with yet you claim you know the truth. Let me tell you the truth if you wish to know and that is you will definitely get what you are looking for while knocking on a closed door that doesn’t concern you.

Good morning X-Rated Points of correction: 1) It is not MY invention that NBM was originally created to fight the Pyrates. The founder Ibn Godidi de Saddest himself made this quite clear (see “History of NBM” posts). If you insist that it is a “movement” nowadays I’m sorry to say there is absolutely no evidence of that, nowhere. 2) According to Nigerian Law even 100% of members are criminals. It’s an illegal organization according to the law, thus being a member is illegal, right?

However I was not referring to this. Violence is not the most common crime in NBM. In fact it’s fraud.

You probably know as well as I do that most zones are not much more than 419 cells. You possibly don’t know though that even the 2012-14 NH and NC2 (to name only a few) are 419 boys. So while they may speak out (but not act) against violence, they are busy going about their other crimes themselves.

It’s ridiculous. Furthermore the older members today were yesterday’s killers so their talk against violence somewhat lacks credibility. It’s not as if the violence is a recent development. There would be more credibility to it if murderers were sent to prison rather than bribed out when they get caught, don’t you think? 3) As long as NBM contributes to Nigeria going to hell I think it damn well is my and everybody else’s business.

NBM is contributing to corruption and the lack of democracy in our country. Last but not least several diaspora zones are doing a very good job at spoiling the name of Nigerians further. All this IS every Nigerians’ business. Your constant threats won’t change that. @ X-Rated: I think you ve made some nice point here.I’m not a member of NBM or any other “visionless ” group,I know better than that but if you think is wrong,I think what you should do is to use this same forum to positively market your NBM,rolling out all the good things they ve achieved for the society in accordance to the organization’s stated aims and objectives. Most of the other guys talking and ranting for NBM here lacks intelligibility and have not made a single sense other than an unnecessary threats. This seem to prove right.

Thank you Sir. 😉 @ Frank Eze.

Isn’t it comical how they are totally unable to prove any of their claims, but still won’t stop repeating them over and over again? I have asked many members to provide us with proof of their freedom fighting and whatever else they claim, but to no avail (well, it was a rhetorical question we all know none of it is true).

Isn’t it also interesting that they are totally obsessed with this “OT” nonsense but never care to read or comment on the objectively much more important posts about their killings, political malpractice and other crimes? It shows quite clearly where the priorities are.

Najuju, i have done a background check on your posts about NBM from 2013 till date. I see you hide under some obsession about NBM, while the undertone is to spread bad blood among the people. If your blog was about condemnation of cultism and addressing all other issues pertaining to cult gangs and violence, i would have gladly taken you more seriously. I think it is foolish of you to pick on one group spill out their private details and publishing those things about them in a public fora like this just because you hold resentment against them. Whatever the reason, you have overstepped your boundaries. Do think everyone is so stupid to assume you are doing this just speak against cult violence?

If tomorrow you become a victim of your stupidity and foolishness someone will say NBM did this or did that. Your footprints are everywhere on the internet and a simple spyware tracking your feeds on this blog can get your location, id, your ip and track you down. I am not issuing any threats whatsoever to you.

But use common sense, take down those sensitive information about NBM on your blog because it serves no purpose. Until there is a lasting solution to cult violence in Nigeria there will still be wars going on in our society. Unfortunately, there are so many other rival groups who are constantly at war with black axe and they will gladly use the information you have published here. You will have yourself to blame if anything emanates from this blog. They say who the gods want dead, they first make mad and stubborn. I repeat you have served no purpose by publishing sensitive information about NBM here.

You have also in other blogs cast aspersions on other members calling them 419 and criminals. You go about name bashing and slandering several individuals because you want to link them with your bitter hate laden posts. I will not warn you again.

NBM has not done anything personally to you to receive this kind of humiliation online. Your identity is not secured, you can be tracked down.

Yes the group still has very aggressive and angry men who will not hesitate to act if the need be. We all are working hard to stop the violence and killings happening in our society, what we need are more good hands to help not for some individual to pick on one group and begin to blackmail them. In Edo state, NBM has been working hard enough with the Eiye group to see an end to the senseless killings happening regularly. Violence in Benin is not unconnected to politics or community land speculators. Certain people in various quarters are benefiting from these, and certainly not NBM. As much as the members need a re orientation, good education and a good source of livelihood, the organisation will not rest on its oars to see this come through.

Most frat men have interpersonal relationships with members of other groups and they all are tired of the senseless killing. NBM has on its events timeline what they call Lord’s night where non members and other frat members are free to attend the function and even partake in some social activities there. I will warn you again take down those NBM materials you have on your blog because it serves no purpose, all other frats have their own identities and it doesn’t concern us.

Preach against violence condemn cultism in general, publish articles on whatever issues you want to but take off those sensitive materials. I trust you will be wise enough to oblige me this. I will be glad to discuss more important issues with you on your blog. So would you also say that, for example, nobody has the right to criticize Boko Haram and name their crimes without also doing the same for all other terrorist organisations at the same time? Would you also say that murderers should not be prosecuted and named because it could be “humiliating” to them? That’s basically what your statement means. Either way, you are in no position to tell me what goes on this blog and what doesn’t.

Why would such a “glorious movement” be concerned about publicity anyway? I’d say either behave in a way that you have nothing to hide or live with your filth ending up in public. Simple as that! Najuju or wateva u call ursef I don’t have anything to say too u cos u just talking out, now let me tell u my encounter with d ayes I am a student of laspotech and also a yahoo guy one aftnoon on ma way back from d bank infront of the school gate some group of guys who called themselves alora attacked me and collected my iPhone that I should bail it I was begging when an axe member meet us and asked what was going on I told him and guy who knows me from nowhere carried my cross and collected my phone for me after some minutes of argument ever since then I give nbm regards. Well moses, your example has nothing at all to do with the things we talk about here. That’s a private matter whereas corruption, all sorts of crime and election rigging are not. A cheating husband doesn’t undermine democracy as NBM does.

The things NBM do affect each and every of us negatively. They have a negative impact on our society and thus deserve to be exposed. Believe me, nobody would give a flying shit about NBM’s secrets if they were just an innocent bunch of guys having parties and talking in codes. Unfortunately, that’s not the case though. Yeah bro, i thought as much.

This infiltrator under the pseudo name of najuju is on a serious smear campaign towards NBM and Bermuda. He has posted on several blog and websites how Bermuda is this or that, calling him despicable names. Your time is coming Najuju, you know NBM too well as to what they can do and what they will do. I have investigated you and my initial guess was right. You had privy information to NBM because of your association, we know when a de-axed aggrieved individual is pissed, but stinking jue you are and a filthy one you will end.

Trust me your negative publicity of the Neo Black Movement will do the movement more good than the evil you try to perpetrate. Your time is surely coming, i warned you before but you didn’t listen.

I have no more words for you. Bloody betrayer.

I already know you, Abuja is not far, Lagos is just back door. At night you will wish for day, at daytime you will wish for night. You will only trouble yourself to your demise because of your evil agenda. NBM remains strong and resolute no matter the bad eggs we have in it. Trouble dey sleep yanga go wake amyou go see am. Hmmmmm Cosmos! X-Rated, your “investigation” methods stink.

You don’t have the slightest clue who I am and where I am, and you are guided only by your extremely limited imagination. No, I am not Cosmas, and I would have thought NBM’s impeccable “crack teams” should have found that out by now. But I should have known better. That aside: even without this blog NBM’s publicity would be negative. The only reasons NBM ever make it into the news are of criminal nature. But of course it’s easier to kill the messenger than to face the truth. I’m not saing anything I don’t have proof of, including statements about Bermuda (I repeat, he IS a 419 boy).

You make a fool of yourself if you call things a lie without even knowing the proof. You call him a 419 boy as though he took money from you or stole yours. The body of the Neo Black Movement is aware of this your publication and guess what? They are not bothered. So you can eat your flesh and drink your own blood. I will not feed your senselessness anymore. As the day goes by you will be found and you will indeed have a good day.

We know of Tobias or Cosmos or whoever You are indeed a small fry to handle. You publish NBM’s names and details to other frat members so that it can be used against them.

You were privy to this info because you had a lead. A snitch will always be a snitch!

@Frank Eze just shut the hell up because you have no idea of what is going on here. This coward najuju under several pseudo names have tried in so many ways to tarnish the names of individuals under the guise that he is exposing NBM he is a thief and a known fraudster. He publishes and comments on several blogs against Axemen and so of their members who just mind their business. You have Eiye, Maphites, Buccaneers, etc who are also involved in these cult violence but he chose to be biased. Its no problem and mark you i am not making empty threats you will definitely hear it. NBM is a confraternity and like every organisation in the world no one tolerates a snitch coming to expose details of the org that does not concern the outside world. Even the USA as a country will never tolerate their secrets being exposed to the world.

I would never have commented against your blog if it was purely addressing cult violence and the senseless killings happening in our society, i would even have offered to share articles to condemn such because i hate the killings. But you went on to expose names of temples and zones also bringing out private reports from the various meetings held, to achieve what aim? NBM/Black Axe or whatever is a confraternity and if you call it a cult it is your bloody business nobody cares. Your day will surely come.

I repeat: I am NOT Cosmas A. Since I am not him I’m not a thief and fraudster you call him either. Too bad for you. And if they are “not bothered I don’t see why you are LOL. A 419 boy doesn’t have to steal from ME to be a 419 boy, what a twisted mind do you have?!

As for the rest of your nonsense: you are repeating yourself. And by the way, NBM’s bullshit DOES concern the rest the outside world since you are not only a vice to Nigeria but have exported your crime to so many countries. Furthermore NBM being a CULT is not MY invention. You know damn well that it’s banned under the Nigerian cult prohibition laws.

You just don’t make sense. From one of Nigerian news papers yesterday The Imo state Police command yesterday July 6th paraded 25 suspected and prospective cult members of some polytechnics in Imo state, including the Alvan Ikoku College of Education and Imo state Polytechnic.

Speaking about the arrest, the Imo State Commissioner of police Abdulmajid Ali said; “They call them cult but I see them as potential armed robbers, kidnappers. These are guys that are being initiated into this kind of horrendous crime. We are trying to see if we can link them to the robbery, kidnap and murder cases that we are investigating at the moment. Although some of them will be identified by some of the victims. @ X-Rated,you see all of you “confra” people are being treated as common criminals!! I’m still wondering how a grown up man could take pleasure in and promote a group of riff raffs that stands for absolutely nothing. This is what happens when adults and small boys with empty heads and criminal tendencies runs a supposed secret cult.
